Robert C had such a good time driving his G35 at Laguna Seca that he came back to ZCG for more track preparation!  Since adding almost 200whp with a Vortech supercharger, it would prudent to upgrade the braking system. We are big fans of Stoptech’s brake kits and lucky for Robert one of our customers was willing to part with a lightly used ST60 (front) and ST45 (rear) caliper setup:

Stainless steel lines and larger cross-drilled/vented rotors (355mm) were installed at all four corners:

More shots of the front/rear calipers vs OEM:

The obvious difference in rotor/caliper size results in increased heat capacity and pedal feel. More importantly these big-brakes will ensure repeated, fade-free braking while running on the track!

They do look stunning behind the spokes as well:

We also installed a JWT flywheel and clutch:

With fresh brakes and clutch Robert attended his 2nd track day, this time at Sonoma Raceway:

“Hey Rob,
Track day at Sonoma was incredible. Car was great and ran perfectly the whole time. She just loved sweeping up the hill to turn one and running through the esses. Powering and tracking out of the carousel then running her all the way from there to the brake zone for turn 11 is just…all I can think of to describe it is the word “happy”.
I was only doing 2:23 as a best lap but seeing as this is my second track day ever and my first time driving Sonoma, I’ll take it!”

Great work, Robert. We are happy that you can enjoy track days with confidence. The G looks superb out there!

It’s sedan week! Brandon M’s G35 visited us early 2013 for suspension upgrades and he came back for a few more mods. We installed a Stoptech Sport Kit which is a very smart and affordable way to increase braking capacity:

Brandon is now running G35 coupe 19″ wheels and they look fantastic coupled with the lowered ride height!

Rob UPREV re-tuned the G with the addition of a Trans-Go shift kit. Note the increased hp/tq throughout entire rev range with peak gains of 10hp/8tq to the wheels:

Eric S came to ZCG for an UPREV tune and Whiteline bushing install for the T/C rods. The tuning session yielded significant gains across the powerband:

Peak numbers jump to 245hp/240tq at the wheels, with gains of roughly 15hp/21tq from 3krpm all the way to an increased redline. Enjoy The Ride Eric!

Chris’ GTM G35 Coupe

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,g35,Performance
by Alvin G @ 11:49 pm on October 10, 2013

Chris B is a long time ZCG customer and we have been with him through various stages of his build. Affectionately called “Lucy”, this beautiful G35 coupe has won numerous awards at shows including Hot Import Nights. Chris fanatically detailed the engine bay with polished and stainless parts abound. Even the Cosworth intake manifold was customized with candy-red carbon fiber to match the valve covers and huge Brembo calipers at all 4 corners.

Low compression in one cylinder and a feeling that he’d reached the limits of the Vortech supercharger sparked a call to ZCG. Rob and Chris discussed the next stage of boost for Lucy and it would be in the form of two turbos courtesy of a GTM Stage 2 kit! Parts arrived and the drivetrain was removed.

The built VQ was re-assembled with care and attention to detail considering how Chris insanely polished parts like the entire front end.

Behold the shine. Once you start polishing it is hard to stop!

With the engine buttoned down the GTM twin-turbo kit was installed. Note details like the manifold heat shields and insulation protecting oil/wiring lines near downpipes.  The fresh GTM stage 4 automatic transmission is a prudent upgrade to handle big power:

Twin-turbo VQ, welcome home!

Polished hot/cold pipes feed the GTM FMIC:

Rob’s conservative 91 octane tune yielded 450hp/421tq to the wheels. More power to come!

We love working with Chris and look forward to turning up the wick when the urge arises! Enjoy the boost and that wonderful engine bay!

More Power: Alan’s Vortech G35

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 11:31 pm on April 1, 2013

Our last major update on Alan E’s G35 was in 2009 when he made the jump to forced induction with a full Vortech supercharger install + supporting mods. Alan recently came back to ZCG for more power upgrades since we all know that boost is addictive!

We installed ART pipes to complement the upgraded exhaust system:

A 2.87 pulley generates more boost along with uprated 650cc injectors and an Aeromotive 340LPH fuel pump:

650cc injectors and Aeromotive fuel pump:

The initial build several years ago produced 417hp/320tq at the wheels:

With the current mods and Rob’s tuning, the G now produces 457hp/351tq to the wheels!

Will Alan’s craving for power be satisfied now? Stay tuned to find out!
