Performance Parts for Nissan, Inifiniti and Datsun Cars

MSN lists the Top 10 Coolest Cars at the Rolex Motorsports Reunion. Among the Porsche’s and rare F1 cars TWO Datsuns were chosen, a Bluebird coupe and a BRE 510.
The BRE 510 was built by Paul Moore and driven by Mark Boen in the Trans Am(under 2liter) race. With an engine built by Rebello, ZCarGarage dyno tuned the 510 before the big race weekend. Mark did an excellent job at ‘Seca and made Datsun fans proud!

One Bad Wagon

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 1:06 am on August 2, 2010

Anthony S is the owner of this sinister Datsun 510 wagon. We first met Anthony years ago at the All-Datsun Meet at Mt. Shasta. He started visiting the shop frequently, driving this wagon all the way from Oregon to San Jose, CA. We have done many events together and I thought it was time to share his 510 with you since it recently got a new drivetrain.

Anthony built this 510 from the ground up himself, and it has been constantly evolving. He started with a rather unorthodox inline-6 cylinder engine, the Toyota 7M-GTE. This single-turbo setup spun the ZCG dyno to almost 400rwhp! Suspension and brakes modifications include Brembo calipers up front, a Ford rear end and massive 255/35 tires in front with 285/35 rears. Anthony is a track nut and this 510 has seen many days running hard at Portland Int. Raceway. A radical front grille/spoiler design, rear mounted radiator, air to water intercooler(now air-to-air), custom gauge cluster and other mods showcase Anthony’s tremendous fabrication skills. Anthony recently “swapped” in the mighty 2JZ-GTE engine. You can follow the build-up over at Supraforums

ZCarGarage Builds a 1967 Camaro

ZCarGarage may be known for working magic on Nissans/Datsuns both new and old but they also build/modify cars of different marques. This 1967 Camaro had a colorful history with it’s previous owner Tony F, a long time friend of Rob’s from Georgia. Adolfo recently purchased the car this year and plans to build it Pro-Touring-style, with some ZCG touches of course 🙂

The car is in fantastic shape an the interior was also freshened up. Stock, inline-6 cylinder will be replaced with one of GM’s LS-series V8 drivetrains

Check the blog for more updates on this resto-mod!

Datsun Fun Run Report…7/24/10

Filed under: Events,Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 11:29 pm on July 26, 2010

For the last few years I have been organizing “Fun Runs” throughout the Bay Area. A fun run consists of  several Datsuns/Nissans getting together simply to enjoy driving on twisty roads. Pretty scenery, good food and company follow. Events typically last about 3-4 hrs and mileage can be anywhere from 90-200miles roundtrip. We went on a fun run last Saturday, and it was a blast!

We had 5 Datsun Roadsters, 1 RHD Datsun 510, a 350z, and a Miata(more the merrier!) show up in the morning in San Jose, CA.  Our driving route (see map ) took us through the Uvas and Calero Reservoirs, a brief stop at Mt. Madonna Inn, then down to Capitola for lunch, through Santa Cruz, and back up the twisty HW9 up to Skyline Blvd(35), and finally down 9 to Downtown Saratoga.

One of the roadsters had a supercharged KA24DE drivetrain, listen to the blower whine below:

1973 FairladyZ Gets New Wheels and Suspension

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 5:49 pm on July 20, 2010

This 1973 240z belongs to a friend of the shop, Lou S.  It is a rare sight to see this Japanese-spec, Right-Hand-Drive (RHD) model with appropriate “FairladyZ” badging/lighting. The Z recently got new 3-piece, custom offset 17″ Panasport wheels. You might remember these beauties from the multiple sets ordered for the RB-240z builds.

These wheels allow the use of massive 255/40/17(Bridgestone RE050a) tires without major fender mods/flares. To take advantage of the larger footwork a complete Arizona Zcar suspension upgrade was installed.

The rear controls arms offer multiple points of adjustment. Struts were shortened and a Ground Control coilover kit with custom spring rates can be dialed in for any condition. Sway bars and new bushings throughout. The result is a car that stays absolutely planted in corners. It is almost begging for more power now. Triple Mikuni’s Lou? 🙂

The new stance makes this “RightLady” look awesome, and the black center spokes with polished lip complements the paint really well. Here is a short video clip of the car rolling on the freeway, enjoy!
