The Gift of Boost: Lora’s ST 350z

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 10:00 pm on June 16, 2012

Lora and her husband Chris are motorsports fans. Chris has a dedicated rock/crawler and Lora loves her Z33. Since she enjoys trackdays and twisty roads her husband gave her the gift of boost: a Turbonetics single turbo kit! ZCG installed the kit and added a GTM oil cooler plus a few other goodies.

Before boost and after boost!

JWT clutch/flywheel, old exhaust system, and  modified exhaust with new NISMO muffler.

Below you can see more details of the kit including turbo placement, exhaust crossover pipe, FMIC, and intake routing:

At just over 7lbs boost Lora’s Z made 376hp/390tq to the wheels!

We can’t think of a better gift to give your loved one, especially if they are like Lora and love to Enjoy to the Ride!

Nick’s G35

Nick K is a really enthusiastic guy and had no problem with driving all the way from Sacramento to have is G35 tuned at ZCG. He installed almost every bolt-on you can throw at a G all by himself, but he felt that it still needed more power.  The high-mileage car produced 245hp/220tq at the wheels with all of the mods Nick installed:

With Rob’s UPREV tuning the G picked up 17hp/20tq with much smoother power delivery!

Bolt-on Friendly: Steven’s 370z

Since its introduction we have been impressed with how well the 370z’s VQ37 responds to simple bolt-on modifications. Steven L’s Solid Red Z34 made some great power gains with intakes, exhaust, pulleys and an UPREV tune from Rob.

Shown above are the Stillen Gen 3 dual intakes, Stillen exhaust system and pulleys.

Before/after with the Stillen exhaust system.

Stillen intakes before/after.  We dyno’d the car before the mods, after and also with the tuning…

With just the bolt-ons Steven’s Z picked up 23hp/9tq to the wheels with gains throughout the entire rev range. Icing on the cake: Rob’s UPREV tuning squeezed even more hp/tq for a grand total of 315hp/251tq!

More Whoa: Stoptechs For Patrick’s Z32TT

The Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo came from the factory with a very potent powerplant capable of doubling its output in modified form. Unfortunately the Z32 also came from the factory with brakes that were just adequate even at stock power levels. Once you turn up the boost, a car as massive as the Z needs some “whoa” to reign in the “go”…Stoptech to the rescue!

Patrick S recently purchased this ultra clean 60K! mile Z32 from Socal. It already had Stage 3 power and suspension upgrades and needed some big-brakes to acheive that all-important goal of having a perfectly balanced sportscar.  A Stoptech BBK up front with new rotors in back and  a new master cylinder were installed by ZCG:

The rear calipers were treated to “Stoptech red” finish to match the new front calipers:

The finished install:

How gorgeous are these SSRs? Patrick’s Z is now equally competent in the acceleration, handling and now braking departments!

The Right Tune = More Power: David’s Z33

Rob has UPREV tuned many cars and it’s no secret that with proper tuning, simple bolt-ons can yield significant power gains. David T. came to ZCG for a Bassani exhaust and tuning for his Z33 and left with some impressive results. The dyno chart shows a large improvement in peak hp and tq(+14hp/+20tq) at the wheels. Look closer however and you can see even more gains throughout the entire rev range.  At 3700rpm David’s Z makes 21hp more and enjoys a HUGE jump in torque from 215 to 245!

So make the most out of your bolt-ons and run more efficiently with some UPREV tuning at ZCG!
