***Dear Customers and Friends we want to remind you that Z Car Garage will be closed from 12/22/12 through 1/1/13 and open for business on 1/2/13***

We want to say thanks to our customers, friends and the crew at ZCG for making 2012 a wonderful and productive year! ZCG is excited for 2013 and you can count on some spectacular builds and Nissan/Datsun event coverage.

Still Addicted to Boost: Steve’s 600hp G35

Steve S. has a serious addiction: he can never have enough horsepower! He came back to ZCG with his gorgeous Vortech supercharged G35 to push the envelope and make even more power. Rob tuned the ivory G on 100 octane and produced some impressive results: 548hp/431tq to the wheels! This is on the stock block and we don’t recommend doing this but Steve’s appetite for power is insatiable…

Nissan Family Power Continues: Linda’s Armada

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 1:57 am on December 6, 2012

When Linda N. saw the power gains and heard the sweet exhaust note on her son Anthony’s Altima SE-R…she had to have an exhaust system on her own ride! Linda’s Armada has 185k miles and she drives it hard. To help her enjoy the ride we installed a Magnaflow exhaust followed by Rob’s UPREV tuning.

With the exhaust in place we put the stately SUV on the ZCG dyno. With the exhaust and tuning this Armada now makes +15hp and +18tq at the wheels. Power delivery is increased throughout the entire rev range:

This is one driven Nissan family and we love sharing the gift of more power with them.

Birthday Exhaust for Anthony’s SE-R

Anthony’s parents Mark and Linda N are both serious Nissan/Datsun enthusiasts and what better present to give their son than a new exhaust system! Anthony’s daily driver is an Altima SE-R, here is the Magnaflow exhaust vs the stock system:

We put the mighty VQ-powered FWD sedan on the dyno and saw some nice gains. Keep in mind this is a CVT-equipped car:

The dyno revealed peak hp gain from 205 to 222rwhp while peak tq stayed relatively the same. Take a closer look though you will notice that more torque is available at both low and high rpm ranges:

A birthday present that gives more power and a throatier exhaust note…we know Anthony will enjoy the ride! Stay tuned as we have more to come from this Nissan-crazy family 🙂

We love to hear about Datsun owners and the stories that come with their cars. Jon B. has owned and worked on his ’71 240z for 38 years. When he enlisted Z Car Garage to freshen the look and tuneup the engine…we were happy to to oblige. Here is a letter from Jon, enjoy!

“The car was purchased by my father in 1975, from a friend. I drove it to my senior ball in 1978, and took it off my fathers’ hands in 1982, for a whopping $3,300. It has been a daily driver for most of those years. The odometer reads 358,659. The engine has been rebuilt twice, transmission once, and just about every other part has been replaced at least once. Still sporting the 14 x 7 Shelby 500 slotted mags, it was time for an update.”

“I had heard many good things about Z Car Garage, so I decided to give them a try. The request list was for 16 x 7 Panasports, Bridgestone RE760 skins, valve adjustment and carburetor tuning. Rob discovered a few other malfunctioning items like a broken transmission mount and leaking clutch master cylinder. I just picked it up and, Wow! I do not recall the car ever running this good. She pulls smooth and evenly up through the gears and handles better than I expected. It is nice to have a mechanic who is as enthusiastic about your car as you are!”
Thanks Z Car Garage
Jon B.
