Several years ago we met Scott L at a local autocross and eventually started working on his 2003 Brickyard 350z. He loved to road race so we performed incremental upgrades including Stoptech front brakes, a Quaife differential, Hotchkis sway bars, Koni Yellow shocks, and adjustable front A-arms with rear lower control arms. We also did a minor tune and numerous track day-prep/maintenance. Here he is at Laguna Seca:
With 200k miles on the Z he started looking for a new sportscar that met his requirements. Being a Nissan fan and quite attached to his Z the GT-R did make his list but the lack of a true manual transmission steered him away. A C7 Z51 and Cayman GTS were also in the running until he saw the new GT350 Mustang and it ticked all the right boxes:
Scott stopped by ZCG to dyno the Shelby and it put down an impressive 460hp/375tq to the wheels! Factory rated at 520hp/429tq, this flat-plane crank beast has been reported to put down even more power on 93 octane!
The dyno chart is displayed with a bone stock 2012 Mustang GT:
Here is a video of the ‘Stang on the dyno. Congratulations Scott and thanks for bringing her by the shop!
Rob was completely impressed after driving it…Nissan are you listening?
Jared C has been a customer since Z Car Garage opened in 2004. Years ago before UPREV tuning existed, Rob tuned his car with a piggy back ecu. Jared kept coming back to us for little things like cams when he was NA and last year made the jump to forced induction via the Vortech Tuner supercharger kit.
We added EV14 injectors, a GT MAF and 25-row Z1 oil cooler:
While it was in the shop Jared expressed interest in larger brakes and lucky for him we had some Stoptech ST-45 rear calipers in stock. We ordered matching silver ST60 calipers for the front:
Now the Z has big brakes to match its big power!
Jared’s Z has always been a really strong performer making above average power NA…it did the same with FI!
NA: 243hp/239tq
Vortech: 443hp/359tq
We turned it down a notch for final numbers of 429hp/353tq to the wheels:
Thank you Jared for your continued support and Enjoy The Ride under boost!
Dwane has been customer since the opening of Z Car Garage in 2004. We installed one of Vortech’s earliest supercharger kits on his ultra low-mileage ’03 Brickyard 350z circa 2005 and he has been enjoying it ever since. Almost a decade later forced-induction tuning and support has tremendously advanced and many boosted applications are abandoning the old Split-Second and FMU-based systems.
At ZCG we love the UPREV tuning platform and it allowed us to maximize gains from a new GT MAF, larger injectors and upgraded fuel pump. We also installed ART pipes on the exhaust side and nice cosmetic addition of LED-based headlights:
On the dyno we picked up 9hp/13tq with smoother delivery throughout the rev range. Mid-to-high gains were significant:
Marc H found Z Car Garage online and wanted to see what we were all about. After visiting the shop he dropped off his ultra-clean, low mileage 2008 350z for power and suspension goodies:
We love the HR engine found in the latest Z33s because they respond extremely well to simple bolt-ons and UPREV tuning. We started with a with Bassani cat-back exhaust followed by JWT dual POP charger intakes :
On the dyno, Marc’s 350z baselined at 271hp/245tq to the wheels. The Bassani exhaust netted a peak gain of 7hp and significant midrange gains in torque:
The JWT intakes added an additional 4hp:
This graph illustrates the benefit of UPREV tuning when adding bolt-ons. More power everywhere, all the way up to 7500rpm for peak gains of 19hp/8tq for a total of 290hp/253tq to the wheels:
Marc wanted to improve handling and braking so we installed Eibach springs, Hotchkis sway bars, and Whiteline T/C rod bushings followed by a full alignment. Factory Brembo brakes were upgraded with Stoptech Sport Kits all around:
Sway bars:
Marc was very pleased with the results and has been enjoying his Z. He told us he would be coming back to ZCG and we will happily oblige!
