Josh R called us up for some free Z Car Garage swag.  Rob happily sent out a few things but they never reached Josh. This was unacceptable so Rob sent him a care package with key chains, shirts, lanyards and ensured delivery with the boys in brown.

Josh got finally got his swag and mentioned that he’d be back with his Z33 if he needed some tuning and we are happy to report that we worked on his Z recently!  We installed ART pipes, Motordyne MREV manifold /plenum spacer and finished the bolt-ons off with an UPREV tune.
Here are the ART pipes in place of the factory cats:

On the dyno we started with a baseline of 227hp/215tq and after bolt-on/tuning ended up with 254hp/233tq to the wheels:

Here is a breakdown of the bolt-ons and UPREV tuning.

Baseline to plenum spacer/manifold shows slight peak gains but significantly more midrange power:

UPREV tuning maximizes these bolt-ons yielding +6hp/7tq. Also note the increased rev limit:

The ART pipes really help in upper rev range increasing hp by 12hp. A final UPREV tuning session adds even more hp/tq:

Thank you Josh for coming to ZCG!

When the “mod bug” gets to you it’s a hard habit to break! Rich B visited us earlier this year for suspension and breathing upgrades and came back for an ART pipe install and re-tune.

An UPREV tune yielded +10hp/9tq for a total of 283hp/252tq to the wheels:

Kevin C wanted to spice up his daily driver Z33 so we added a Motordyne  5/16″ plenum spacer to complement his JWT Pop Charger:

UPREV tuning followed with peak gains of 13hp/10tq for a total of 256hp/245tq to the wheels:

Boost is Better: Reuben’s Vortech 350z

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,Maintenance,Performance
by Alvin G @ 2:39 pm on October 15, 2013

At Z Car Garage we specialize in performance modifications for your Nissan/Infiniti. We also perform full maintenance services to keep your car running in optimal condition. Reuben M visited ZCG in 2008 to have the 30k-mile services completed on his stock LeMans Sunset 350z. Keep in mind that it is hard to avoid the temptation of forced-induction when one catches a glance of the many boosted-builds in our facility. Fast forward to 2013 and 13k-miles later…guess who has the craving for more power?

Reuben chose the Vortech V3-polished supercharger kit for its CARB-friendliness and daily driver operation. The dual-personality nature of the Vortech provides the potential for big power yet smooth, linear delivery.

A GTM 25-row oil cooler keeps oil temperature in check while the JWT HD clutch/flywheel help put the power to the wheels:

With the Vortech supercharger installed Reuben’s Z made 375hp/327tq to the wheels. This was a +123hp/86tq improvement over stock:

We love how sleeper this Z is! Our ZCG bypass-valve silencer keeps things quiet and the FMIC barely peeks from behind the OEM grille:

Enjoy The Boost, Reuben!

Z Car Garage Tuned 350z Gets 2nd Place!

Congratulations to Patrick Chio for his 2nd place finish in the Modified RWD class in Round 6 of the 2013 Redline Time Attack race! He has been a top contender in this series with 1st/2nd place finishes. Recently he added a Vortech supercharger and this compounded the 350z’s high oil temp issues under hot race conditions. Read Patrick’s report and how Z Car Garage helped tune his 350 to survive the blistering temperatures and demands of the Auto Club Speedway:

Due to a City Tech Auto Body track day at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca we missed the practice day on Saturday. Arriving on Sunday early morning we completed the check up, tech, registration and temperature was rising to 77 degrees right before our first session.

Auto Club Speedway is known to put a lot of stress on the motor because of the NASCAR banking at high speed. Our Z hit 5th gear, full throttle, 6k+ rpm on the bank over 140mph. During the first time attack session, our Z was able to keep the oil temperature just about 200F through out the whole session at around 82 degree ambient temperature. However, during the 2nd session ambient temperature rose up to 100F+. We saw many M3, STi and highly modified cars forced to pit after the 2nd lap. Despite the high heat, we managed to finish the full session and oil temperature reached 260F right before the checker flag.

We were amazed that a supercharged 350z was able to last the full session in this harsh environment. Rob and his crew at Z Car Garage have done an amazing job again keeping our time attack Z alive! Below is the video in one of the session (Count how many super cars we have passed):

Keep up the superb driving Patrick and thank you for letting ZCG work on your Time Attack Z!
