SSP Release R35 GT-R 3″ Cat-less Downpipes

Hot off the wire!!  SSP is set up for the immediate release of their new 3″ down pipes.  They have been installed on the ZCG GT-R and are soon to be tested with the rest of the soon-to-be-released SSP GTR820RR kit.  These downpipes remove the annoying and power-robbing pre-cats that are built into the stock R35 downpipes.  Boost will now come on stronger and faster, and lucky for us the parts are made in house at SSP so there is no waiting for the slow boat from Japan!!  Instant gratification is finally here for US customers.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota (January 22, 2009) – South Side Performance is offering, another great new product for the R35 GTR, the SSP RS Turbo Downpipes. This component is another in a line of SSP products that will move power hungry GTR owners towards 820 HP, when paired with our recently released GTR820RR Turbo Kit.

In months of testing different outlets sizes and shapes, the 3 in turbo downpipe design was found to be the most efficient size downpipe that would make big power, and provide your GTR a great throaty sound. These pieces are made with all the precision and care of those from Japan without the Japanese premium price. New ZCG GT-R Videos

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I have obtained a couple of videos of the wonderful ZCG GT-R for your viewing pleasure.  The first clip was done to demonstrate the exhaust sound of the HKS Kensai Ti Exhaust with the stainless cat-delete mid-pipe. Sounds pretty amazing huh?  Contact us if you would like any further information on GT-R parts or service.

The second clip was filmed by our Z Guru Rob Fuller while driving a new 370z to Las Vegas on the Follow the Nissan Z tour.  We were on the freeway going at a good clip when this took place so it really shows the overtaking power that our GT-R posses after we finished phase one in our long list of planned modifications.

We are going to be making a few more videos of the car with a chase car or two so keep an eye out for those.  GT-Rs rule.




RB 240Z Builds Continue On At Z Car Garage!!

I was finally able to go to the powerder-coater today to pick up the remaining parts for the Kurtzee RB project.  All of the parts were done in a high gloss black to make all of our hard work stand out.  The struts were shortened and we added a Ground Control coilover kit with custom spring rates to handle the added weight of the turbo RB.

Also seen here are some new pictures of the suspension that belongs to the Fairlady RB car.  It is done in a “near chrome” finish to pay respect to the silver suspension of the almighty Skyline GT-Rs of the past.

The black “Behemoth” 2.8L is set to come out of paint after the first of the year so get ready for some new photos of it in the near future.  These cars are going to start coming together really fast so expect to see some more updates relatively soon.  Z Car Justice!!

Follow The Nissan Z To Las Vegas: First Photo Set

The drive from Sacramento to Las Vegas with the 370z was like winning the lottery.  I’m not kidding.  Getting the opportunity to drive these cars on an extended trip like this is a once in a life time experience (well hopefully not.)

I was able to drive the final leg all the way from Bakersfield to Las Vegas.  I have never been more impressed with a STOCK car in my entire life.  This car is amazing!  The improvements over the out-going model are almost too vast to describe here, but I’ll give it my best.

Exterior styling: While quite a few people feel that the new car has some strange styling ques the design really grows on you one you spend some time on it.  I spent four days with the car doing everything from detailing them to driving them through the desert with ZCG’s finest creations and I have fallen in love with the way it looks.  It is definitely a Z.

Interior: Improvements in this department are vast.  All of the materials are top notch quality and the arrangement of the buttons and switches has been improved over the 350z.  I wasn’t too big of a fan of the seats in the standard model (I drove the blue 370z the 300 miles from Bakersfield to Las Vegas) but the other people on the drive had no complaints.  The Premium Edition interior was also very impressive with it’s power leather seats and full navigation system.  Very nice indeed.

Engine: The new VQ is the best normally aspirated V6 Nissan has ever produced, hands down.  There is torque everywhere with this thing!!  With the rev limit still up at 7,500 rpm so there is plenty of room to play around the rpm range while changing gears as little as possible if you desire.  Yes please…

Drivetrain: This is my favorite part of the entire package.  They have modified the electronics in the car to recognize what gear you are in at any time.  This allows the ecu to be able to rev match you automatically no matter what gear you select, and it works on up shifts too!  NO MORE MISSED THROTTLE BLIPS, EVER.  The only way to miss a shift now is if you don’t engage the shifter all the way.
In other words if you are at 60mph and you want to go from 5th to 4th gear you just need to disengage the clutch and start to move the shifter  and the engine will adjust it’s RPM to match the selected gear and it will hold it there as long as you have your foot on the clutch.  You can even keep the clutch in while shifting from gear to gear and the engine RPM will dance around the tach like Circ de Soleil.  Wicked.
